I think I am a little bit in love with Ayelet Waldman, author of Daughter's Keeper, and a whole series of mysteries, as I see by her now defunct blog, Bad-Mother. I mean in love as in an I wanna be her friend kind of way, not an I wanna do dirty stuff kind of way.
Anyhow, Daughter's Keeper is one of those really depressing but uplifting kind of stories, about a girl in her early 20s who gets busted for drugs, thanks to her dealing boyfriend, and how the bust is a catalyst to repair her damaged relationship with her mom. And BTW, I am only halfway through, but I have read the end. I always flip to the back of books when I'm nervous about the outcome. It either helps me prepare for the end or it soothes my concience so I can enjoy in peace. And I know that's ridiculous, but that's me.
Anyhow, it's a great read, which I picked up because it was dedicated to Amanda Davis, and just left in the recording studio in Minnesota, as I was there working on our album all weekend, which you can read about here. So I guess I'll never know what happens in the middle, unless I use that sophisticated tool known as our public library...

Thanks, Blogger, for deleting my hilarious and scathing review of Edward Bloor's Crusader. Fantastic fiction, my ass.
