Seriously, now. Who wouldn't want to read a Martha Stewart prison diary?!

Nobody knows the trouble I've seen. Nobody knows, but cubie.

Cubie is my new name for the space I occupy down on South Wacker (Wacker? I hardly know 'er!), and will continue to occupy for THREE MORE DAYS. Next week is tour, and I can pretend to be a rockstar for 18 days straight!!

No kidding, I have lost my mind over the past 3.5 weeks here. Sneaking onto the Internet, sneaking out to the bathroom...it's like I've regressed professionally eight years (and personally about 14 years).

Meanwhile, I did discover one magazine, Budget Living, which is for cheapasses, but apparently not cheapasses as cheap as myself, as everything seemed rather expensive from my grand salary of $450/week.

I also became a Mary Kay consultant, by God. So go buy something. Seriously, I can't proofread forever.

This looks pretty cool, dontcha think?

The University of Chicago Press has unveiled a website for the just released and monumental Encyclopedia of Chicago

More than a decade in development and running to more than 1,100 pages, the Encyclopedia is the most comprehensive book ever published on the City of Big Shoulders. The website has a wealth of information including some gorgeous sample pages.

And to celebrate, the Encyclopedia will be publicly unveiled at a pro-am city-wide trivia contest on Wednesday October 6. Hosted by NPR's Peter Sagal, with celebrity contestants Eric Zorn, Scott Simon, Carol Moseley Braun, and a few other surprise guests, the event will take place in the Auditorium of the Harold Washington Library and it will run from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.

It's been another week of guilty pleasures for me. Book One in Anne McCaffrey's Freedom series, which features a former human slave having sex with an alien of the species that enslaved her people. This is my first experience of mating the science fiction and romance genres, and I must say, I'm titillated. Teehee!
